While some communities are completely gone, what is left of others is negligible by way of land size.

The effects of the rising sea level is so evident as one can see the remains of abandoned houses, with fading human activities as large numbers of people have deserted their homes and relocated to other places.

The absence of a sea defence wall to protect lives and properties from the havoc of the sea has worsened the plight of these communities as they are being washed away faster than expected.

The sea shows its might and washes into people's homes leaving behind debris it carried along.

At Kuveme in the Anloga District, where the River Volta enters the sea, the situation presents a sorry state with the absence of basic amenities like roads, and hospitals.

The school serving the people has part of it destroyed by the sea and what is left is also at the mercy of it having a very short distance between them.
