Bibiani MP calls on youth to get registered
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai constituency in the Western Region, Kingsley Aboagye Gyedu has called on those who have attained the age of (18) after the 2016 general election to take part in the on-going limited registration exercise.

According to him, the exercise is aimed at providing an opportunity for those who have not had their names in the voters register since 2012 to also do so, adding that, the exercise is taking place in Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality, Sefwi Wiawso Municipality, Juaboso District, Bodi District, Akotombra District.

The rest are Suaman District, Aowin District, Bia East and West Districts respectively that formed the proposed Western North Region.

Hon. Aboagye said, the exercise is taking place in nine (9) Districts in the Western Region where referendum are expected to be held for the creation of the new region.

Hon. therefore, cautioned, the constituents to embark on door to door campaign to educate people on the benefits that come with the creation of the Western North.

The Bibiani legislator who doubles as the Deputy Minister of Health made the call in an interview with the media on Friday, September 21, 2018.

However, at the beginning of the exercise, only few people were trooping in for registration and EC officials said the situation was slow because it was a Sunday and many people had gone to church.

On his part, The Constituency Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the area, Mr. Franklin Appiah- Kumi was unhappy about how the people struggled to get access to registration centre.

It takes the interventions of both (NPP) and (NDC) youth organisers to arrange for means transport to convey people from their various communities to Bibiani where the registration is taking place.

They appealed to EC to decentralize an exercise like this nature to the door steps of the people next time to avoid transporting people from far before they get registered.
