ADANSI S: DCE, opinion leaders discuss revival of Subriso market.
The District Chief Executive of Adansi South District Hon. Francis Kwabena Ankomah and some of the senior management team visited Akutreso on Wednesday 11th October, 2017.

The visit was used to solicit the views of the opinion leaders in all the nearby communities that forms the Akutreso Area Council to set the market day for Subriso which has not been active for the past six years.

In his open remarks the DCE called on the opinion leaders to do everything possible within their jurisdiction to help revive the market. “This market was vibrant some years back but as to why is collapsed and how we can revive it is the reason why we have met here today, let us all come out with good proposals and suggestions which will give us the direction as how we can revive the market” The DCE concluded.




In a lengthy deliberations on the market day, Wednesday was agreed upon as the best day. In other to involve the major stakeholders ie the market women, the DCE with the staff and the opinion leaders went to Subriso to solicit their views. They all supported the Wednesday as the best day for the market.

On the reason for the collapse of the Subriso market, is came to light that the movement of the market from the center of the town to the outskirt caused it collapse. In fact three market stalls sheds that were constructed by the district assembly have been left to rot, it was therefore agreed to bring back the market to its original place.

The people were very happy that the DCE and the management of the assembly have taking the initiative to revive the market. “Our town will be very busy and we can get money by selling our farm produce which we always sent to Fumso on Thursdays one woman retorted” during the interaction at Subriso.

The Assembly Members of the areas Hon. James Buabeng –Subriso, Hon. Kpormegbe Koffie Anderson-Akutreso and Hon. Albert Kwasi Hormeku all expressed their gratitude to the DCE and his management for making all the necessary efforts to revive the market in the area.



They pledged their full support to ensure that the market is revived.
The Chief of Akutreso Nana Albert and Queen Mother Nana Kumi with their Council of Elders thanked the DCE and his staff for conceiving the idea and going ahead to revive the market. “We will all play our part to ensure that the Subriso market is revived the chief of Akutreso promised “

In his closing remarks Hon Francis Kwabena Ankomah- DCE, thanked all the people for the interest they have shown in the discussion and the revival of the market. He promised that he and his team of the assembly will do everything within their capacity to revive the market.




In another development Hon. Francis Kwabena Ankomah used the visit to inspect an ongoing 6-units classroom block being constructed by FESAG Construction Ltd. for the Primary School at Akutreso.

The school is being funded by the Ghana COCOBOD as part of their social responsibility in cocoa growing areas in the country. Hon. Francis Ankomah was impressed about the work done and thanked the contractor for the good work.
