According to the chairman of PAC, the Auditor General, after a Supreme Court ruling can now disallow expenditure incurred by the Assemblies and any government agencies.

“When they begin to be responsible and being surcharged individual as heads of those institutions by the Auditor General, and made to pay for financial infractions they would sit up and do the right thing”, he said in an interview.

He was however, quick to point out that, there would be no need to haul MMDAs before the PAC if they adhere to the Public Financial Management Act.

“The fact that they come before the PAC means they are not obeying the laws, but instructions we give them a as a committee they obey them, but they still repeat those mistakes in subsequent reports we are working towards they not being cited for infractions so that they are not cited in the AG’s report”, he said.
