Buem MP holds ICT camp for Junior High students
e-Ghana Volunteers Academy, an initiative by the Member of Parliament for Buem, Daniel Kwasi Ashaiman aimed at equipping young rural students with basic ICT skills has successfully ended its first holiday training camp for some selected Basic School students in the constituency.

Addressing the inaugural training camp at the Fr. Dogli Memorial Technical Institute in the Jasikan District, Mr Daniel Ashaiman said ICT has become the basis for human existence hence the need to empower especially the rural young person to become at par with their urban peers.

The Buem MP who is a Member of the Communications Committee of Parliament urged the need to equip young people in rural communities with technological skills to make then relevant in the world of technology as they prepare themselves as future leaders.

He reiterated his commitment through the e-Ghana Volunteers Academy towards empowering the young rural dwellers with Information Communication Technology skills to enable them appreciate the world better whiles positioning them to rub shoulders with their urban counterparts.

According to the Buem MP, since students aspire to higher heights, knowledge in ICT is one such basic asset they need to acquire and appreciate for a meaningful tomorrow hence his efforts to do something new in the lives of the students.

"I am therefore committed to do something new in the lives of the students" he said.

Mr. Daniel Ashaiman who lectured the students on the fundamentals of computers said the advent of computers has made communication much easier.

Topics treated over the tree day camp includes fundamentals, hardware, Microsoft office suite word, PowerPoint, Excel, practicals.

Over two hundred Junior High School students benefited from the three day holiday camp ICT training exercise by the e-Ghana Volunteers Academy.

The students were drawn from Dzolu, Old Ayoma, Odumase, Kute , 2 schools, Lekante, New Ayoma, 2 schools, Baglo, Old Baika and Fr Dogli Basic school.

Beatrice Dzakah, Principal Fr Dogli Memorial Institute emphasized the need of ICT of their everyday lives.
Urged them to take the three day opportunity seriously.

The electronic (e)-Ghana Volunteers Academy was launched in October, 2017 by the Buem MP in collaboration with Nana Otimpong Otibribi III, a sub-Chief old Baika to equip young people in rural communities with basic Information Communication Technology (ICT) skills throughout the country.
