According to the Mayor the AMA has challenges and needs to retool its waste management department; "we do not have enough logistics to be able to prosecute this agenda, we need that the private actors are also involved".

He has advocated for waste dumping sites to operate within 24hours for refuse to be damped in the evening and noted that the current problem is land filed sites work from 8am to 5pm, that is a “major bother” he said.

Sometimes you collect the waste and you do not know where to damp it, again damping the waste in the morning we have to compete with traffic, he lamented.

He pointed out that he has spoken to the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources insisting and demanding that damping sites be operated in the night. So far it has been good but we have a lot of work to do.
