Reacting to the recent hike in food stuffs and inflation rate, Mr Boateng said he believes the youth must be encouraged to take keen interest in farming to help feed the country and for export purposes.

According to him, “the youth must endeavour to venture into farming because farming is a very lucrative job.”

He emphasized that, “it is not only schooling that can make you wealthy", citing how 50 bags of gari can even make a farmer rich.

He however, urged the government to invest in yam and cassava farmers in order to produce in larger quantities.

According to him, yam and cassava are very important commodities that Ghanaians can survive on citing how almost all senior high schools depend largely on gari and other cassava produce.

He therefore called on the government to shift its attention to both cassava and yam farming to meet the daily demand.

He also pleaded with the government to construct farm roads for easy transportation of farm produce.

According to him, most farmers have been encountering post-harvest losses due to poor road networks and thus called for immediate intervention from the government to help mitigate the menace.
