The project is aimed to improve institutional capacity and procedures of pilot MMDAs to support revenue mobilisation thereby diminishing the tax gaps of these Assemblies.

VNG International supports decentralisation processes and facilitates decentralised cooperation. They provide capacity building services to strengthen local governments, their associations, training institutes and decentralisation task forces both in developing countries and countries in transition.

They provide, build on existing experience, with high quality services such as benchmarks, tools for tax collection and handbooks. VNG International is the international cooperation agency of the Association of Netherlands Municipalities

The VNG International team noted that the delivery of the project goal was very critical due to the importance attached to tax revenue. The team indicated that the project would organize tax revenue application software to the pilot 32 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) for sustainable increase of local tax revenue.

Dr. Arthur indicated that the timing of the intervention was most appropriate especially as it aligned with his vision on improved revenue mobilisation by MMDAs. He was grateful of the support and hoped the two intuitions would forge stronger partnership.
