The move, according to the President, was aimed at strengthening decentralisation in his governance in order to achieve growth.

Also speaking on behalf of the President, the Western Regional Minister, Mr Kwaku Afriyie assured the Chiefs and people of Amenfi that, the President was very much committed to fulfilling his numerous promises to help better the lives of the ordinary Ghanaian citizenry.

He thus asked the people to forgo the past but rather concentrate on the present and portray an exemplary lifestyle to uplift an image that befit a municipality status.

Meanwhile, the ceremony was graced by other dignitaries including the Member of Parliament (MP) of the area, Hon. Patrick Kwame Bogyarko Saime, Municipal Chief Executive, Mrs Helena Ama Appiah, the Municipal Police Commander, Supt. Bright Boafo, former District Chief Executives (DCEs), various Departmental Heads and Assembly Members.
