The month long campaign is on the theme: “Our Taxes, Our Future” is expected to cover all the 27 Municipal and Districts Assemblies in the region.

Addressing officers of ISD before the commencement of the campaign, a Chief Revenue Officer of GRA, Mr. Emmanuel Awuah emphasized the need to encourage voluntarily payment of taxes by citizens as a demonstration of their commitment to nation’s development.

“The government needs our taxes to implement the developmental projects that we need. So businesses and individuals who have their taxes ready should call us and we will come to you for collection”, he added.

He appealed to the ISD staff to commit themselves to the education and sensitization of the citizenry who due to misunderstanding is reluctant in honouring their tax obligation.

The Regional Information Officer (RIO), Mr. Imoro Ayibani for his part, assured of the department’s readiness to effectively carry out the exercise and called on the GRA and other agencies to partner and collaborate with the ISD in all campaigns and public education activities.

He urged his staff to go into the hinter and educate both businesses and individuals on the tax education since they often lack information for national development.

The campaign is expected to cover communities, business centres, markets centres, durbar and engagement of identifiable groups among others.
