The exercise, which is the first in the year was carried out following persistent refusal of hawkers to move into authorized structures provided for them by the Assembly.

The exercise was carried out in areas such as the Central Business District, N1 highway, Kaneshie Market Area, Kwame Nkrumah Interchange and the Odorkor – Kwashieman main road.

According to the AMA, it will pursue this all-important exercise until there is total discipline in major streets of the capital.

It explained that activities of these traders and hawkers impede the flow of vehicular and human traffic and contribute to the heaps of garbage along major streets of the metropolis, hence the need to rid them of the streets of Accra.
