HO M: 640 farmers enrolled under ‘Planting for Food and Jobs’ programme
A total 640 farmers, made of 540 male and 100 female have been enrolled under the Planting for Food and Jobs programme in the Ho Municipality, Chief Executive for the area, Mr. Nelson Akorlie has disclosed.

The MCE, who made this known during the Assembly's Third Ordinary Meeting in Ho yesterday, also announced that the acreage cultivated of the farmers is around 1,037 acres on crops including maize, rice sorghum, soybeans and vegetables.


The ‘Planting for Food and Jobs’ programme, is a flagship agric programme by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) administrsations, which is aimed at achieving food security and creating jobs for the teaming unemployed youth in the country.






The programme, he explained, is fixed on the pillars that will transform Ghanaian agriculture through the provision of improved seeds, the supply of fertilizers, the provision of dedicated extension services, a marketing strategy, e-agriculture and effective monitoring.


The MCE, in his keynote further revealed some serious and timely response by the government through the Ministry of Agriculture to combat the fall army worm which surfaced in some farms in the municipality.





Mr Akorlie again added that, the technical committee for the programme was working in earnest to ensure the success of the programme.
He encourage the youth in the area to take advantage of the programme to help improve the ensure its success and improve their livelihoods.
