The project is co-sponsored by the World Bank and the Government of Ghana which is being spearheaded by the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development & Decentralisation thus Wenchi Municipal Assembly.

Addressing stakeholders and some beneficiary farmers at Nursery Station in Nchiraa to begin the distribution, a deputy Coordinating Director Ato Mens of the Municipal Assembly underscored the huge investments being made by the government with the introduction of many agriculture policies.

He indicated the government's continuous commitment to enhancing agric-business and full realization of the Planting for Export initiative.

The Municipal Planning Officer of the Assembly Patrick Asomah who is also the Desk Officer for the Project said the objective was to reduce the huge cost and burden associated with access to planting materials.

This is aimed at boosting cashew production and the development of the agricultural sector for economic enhancement. In 2020, 100, 000 cashew seedlings were nursed and distributed to farmers under the project.

The project has created direct and indirect jobs for hundreds in the area.

The beneficiary farmers expressed appreciation to the government, saying the project has not only enabled them easy access to seedlings but also saved them money.

The Information System Officer for the Agric Department/MoFA Alfred Anaman assured farmers of the readiness to continuously offer extension services and other technical support.
