Salt market slides following open defecation
The Municipal Chief Executive for the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abirem Municipality of the Central region, Appiah Korang has defended the decision of the assembly to prosecute people who engage in open defecation.

The MCE in an interview with Ghanadistricts .com stated that the assembly will not end the prosecution as it has proven effective in dealing with the menace.

According to him, he will supports the prosecutorial measure taken by the sanitation department of the assembly as it will not only deter people from defecating in the open but will also help protect the economy of the place.

He further said information reaching the assembly indicates that, the demand for salt purchasing has dwindled as a result of the open defecation in the area with many buyers preferring salt from other relatively clean areas.

Mr. Korang stated that the assembly will not end the prosecution as it has proven effective in dealing with the menace.

He said the assembly will show their uncompromising stance in bringing an abrupt end to the menace and promote a clean environment.
