The group which was started last year by some selected youth has its core objective of helping to promote and advocate for the social welfare and well-being of the youth in the district, as well as educate the youth on health issues.

To bring the youth on board, leadership of the group as part of the Christmas and New Year Festivities, organized a sporting game with participating teams being supporters of various European clubs who engaged in inter-club gala competition.

During the process, resource persons from the health directorates were invited to educate the youth on the topic Drug abuse and Drug Addiction".

One of the leaders, Appiah Aboagye Michael noted that they are worried about the increasing use of drugs among the youth, adding statistics from the district health directorate and other sources, put drug use among the youth at 45 percent which is alarming, hence the choice of their topic.

He said this is Save the Youth Foundation Ghana's way of helping the EU achieve its target of reducing poverty in Africa by 2063, since people who shun drug use will be in good mind to work effectively to contribute to their own well-being and for national development.

Prince Yaw Ofori, who is also one of the leaders also disclosed that come this 2018, STYFG will extend its activities to schools and organize a lot more activities like debates, breast-screening among others.

He urged all and sundry including government to support their course as they fight the canker of drug addiction among the youth with the hope of nurturing youth that will be in better position to embrace leadership in future.

The programme which came to an end last Sunday was described by the leaders as generally successful with Chelsea placing first.

More so, their quest to drum home the need to abstain from drug use was also achieved and they hoped beneficiaries will embrace the message for their own good.
