Deputy Minster calls for effective collaboration between MMDCEs and MMDCDs
A Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Collins Ntim has underscored the pivotal role of Coordinating Directors in decentralization and urged them to continue to offer their best assistance to the Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives MMDCEs in running the affairs of the various Assemblies.

According to Mr. Ntim, the position of coordinating director is a responsible one, as such MMDCDs must work as a team with the chief executives to ensure overall effectiveness at the assemblies.

The Deputy Minister was who was addressing regional, and metropolitan, municipal and district coordinating directors at the 2017 Coordinating Directors conference in Sunyani called for transparency, and respect of laid down procedures in handling the affaires of the Assembly.

The conference is aimed at reviewing activities on reforms designed to improve and strengthened decentralization to meet the aspirations of the people of Ghana.




He was particular about adhering to procurement processes to ensure value for money and protect the assembly purse. He urged heads of decentralized departments to ensure effective collaborations with the leaders of the Assembly to ensure governments initiatives are effectively implemented at the local levels to bring the needed impact the policies are intended for.

The Deputy Minister reminded the coordinators of the policy initiatives including the "one District, one factory", District Centre for Agriculture, Commerce and Technology (DCACT), National Property address System, Planting for food and Jobs among others.

According to him, a special role would be assigned to the coordinating directors on the planting for food and jobs programme as supervisors; and also hinted that the Ministry would ensure regular monitoring hence they must do their best to help the initiatives to succeed to benefit the people.
