Denkyembour Assembly unanimously elects Asante Kennedy as PM
Denkyembour District Assembly has held elections for the Presiding Member position for the next 2 years.

According to the Local Government Act 2016 (Act 936), there shall be an election of Presiding Member which shall be elected by at least two-thirds majority of all members of the assembly.

The presiding member shall chair, convene and preside at meetings of the district and perform other functions prescribed by law and the standing orders of the district assembly.

The Electoral Commissioner for the district took the house through the rules and regulations for the election and introduced the candidate for the position.


Staff of the electoral commission supervised the entire process to a successful end. After the elections, all 31 members who were eligible to cast their ballot voted yes in favour of Mr Asante Kennedy; the sole candidate for the position, given him 100% endorsement by members of the assembly.

The magistrate for Kade District Court; His Lordship Emmanuel Boadu took the Presiding Member elect through the oath of secrecy, oath of office and duly swore him into office as the substantive Presiding Member for Denkyembour District Assembly for the next two years.

The elected Presiding Member; Mr Asante Kennedy in his acceptance speech expressed his utmost gratitude to the District Chief Executive, Nananom, Heads of Departments and most especially the assembly members for unanimously endorsing his candidature as Presiding Member for the next 2 years.

He mentioned that the support he received from members of the assembly and various stakeholders went a long way in helping his office and solicited for more support in order to move the district forward.
