Kintampo Municipal Assembly donates to People with Disabilities
Under the auspices of the Municipal Social Welfare Directorate, the Kintampo Municipal Assembly and the Ministry of Gender and Social Protection, People with Disabilities registered under the Department of Social Welfare were presented with items and equipment on Wednesday, 19th December, 2018 at a ceremony held at the Kintampo Municipal Assembly Hall.

The function was to make good on government’s pledge for social empowerment especially with people with disabilities (PWDS). The presentations were made from the Disabilities funds drawn from the District Assembly Common Funds (DACF).

Beneficiaries were accorded with support in Health, Education and General welfare. They received undisclosed amount of money, items and equipment’s ranging from refrigerators, farming inputs, fufu machine, electric swing machine and hair dressing equipment’s. All those under the health and education support were presented with cheques.

Speaking at this short ceremony, the Municipal Social Welfare Director Mr. Frank Adjie indicated that, this was the second badge of presentations done after that which was organized earlier on in the year. He asked all theirs with disabilities register with the department who have not yet been presented with such items and equipment’s to remain calm and patient as it was being done in turns.

He also said it became extremely necessary to replace the cash presentation with items or equipment’s under consultation with beneficiaries to provide them with alternative means of livelihood.



The Municipal Chief Executive of Kintampo North, Hon. Michael Sarkodie Baffoe at the ceremony said this was necessary to offer alternative livelihood to people with disabilities. According to him, the government seeks to galvanize all human resource in the country to induce productivity in the

Municipality and Ghana at large. The Municipal Chief Executive noted that, successive governments have done their quota through allocations to People with Disabilities (PWDs) to empower them and take them off the streets.

He said the items and equipment would go a long way to alleviate poverty, empower beneficiaries and cater for their dependence. He entreated them to put the items and equipment to good use. He also called on people With Disabilities not to relent on their efforts but to persevere to reach greater heights in life as he inspired them with the story of the rise to prominence of the just passed Minister for Chieftaincy, Dr. Seidu Danaa.



Finally, he used the opportunity to canvass for votes for the up-coming referendum and the creation of the Bono East Region. He admonished people to refrain from a partisan approach to such an important developmental exercise.

A number of twenty –two (22) beneficiaries were presented with items and equipments to boost their livelihoods. Bringing the total number of beneficiaries to sixty-eights (68) as forty-six (46) beneficiaries received items in the first badge of presentations.



Present at the ceremony, were the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Michael Sarkodie Baffoe, the Municipal Coordirector, Mr. Majeed Ayariga, the Municipal Information Officer Miss Rufina Yuoni, the two deputy Coordinating directors Mrs. Bernice Ayariga and Mr. Okere-Henaku Godwin and some staff members of the Kintampo Municipal Assembly.
