Techiman North holds inter-party dialogue ahead of EC limited registration

The Techiman North District Assembly has held an inter-party dialogue meeting with various stakeholders within the District.

The meeting which was held at the Assembly's mini conference hall was attended by representatives of all political parties, members of the District Security Council (DISEC), representatives from the traditional council, religious leaders and the media.

Addressing the participants, DCE for the area Mr. Peter Mensah noted that the Assembly has together with its security agencies carried out various exercises to ensure peaceful coexistence among the people.

He commended the leadership of the various political parties for the swift response to the meeting adding that "it's an indication that every single party is willing to cooperate as a team towards ensuring that the proposed Bono East region is a reality".

He again indicated there's a need for the people to support the initiative by Nananom to bring development to the area.

"We must demonstrate to all that our district is ready for the upcoming referendum by cooperating with each other before, during and after this limited registration exercise". Mr. Peter Mensah said.

He again emphasized that the Assembly is embarking on an intensive sensitization campaign across the District to inform and remind the citizenry especially new voters about the exercise.

On her part, Madam Grace Adzah said the exercise which starts on Sunday, September 16th is an opportunity for fresh voters who have never registered to have their names in the voters register before the December referendum.

"Those who have registered before in other constituencies and want to transfer their votes must not register again as doing so would place them in the multiple register". Mrs. Grace stated.

She again indicated that "an opportunity would be offered such persons at a later date for exhibition as well as voter transfers".

District commander of Police Supt. George Afari Yeboah cautioned the public especially political parties to desist from embarking on violent crimes during the 10 day exercise.
