AMENFI E: Disables to demonstrate against social welfare director

Ghana Society Of the physically disables of Wasa Amenfi East municipal is set to embark on peaceful demonstration on Monday, 8 January, 2018 in protests of an immediate transfer of the Social welfare director Mr. Gideon Sagoe from Wasa Amenfi East Municipal of the Western Region.

The aggrieved physically challenged group with over three hundred members said District's social welfare director, one Mr. Gideon Segeo according to them, has neglected the association, disunited the members and misused their allocated fund due them for his own welbeing.

Narrating their grievances to the media, Mr. Segoe is seen to be Amenfi 'Mugabe' since he has been in the municipality for over 10 years but his presence has yield no impact for the association in Wasa Amenfi East. "the Social welfare director of Wasa Amenfi East municipal, Mr. Gideon Sagoe has been in the municipality for over 10 years. Within this long period, Mr. Gideon Sagoe has not done meaningful things to benefit the society. He must leave the municipal now" they stressed.

The chairman of the physical disables, Mr. Daniel Boye Manu narrated that their petition will be presented to the Municipal Chief Executive of Wasa Amenfi East hon. Helena Ama Appiah after their peaceful demonstration on Monday 8, 2018 to help address their pathetic issues under her watch.

The association emphasized on the following concerns as to the need of an immediate transfer of the Wasa Amenfi East Social welfare director, Mr. Gideon Sagoe.

" Mr. Gideon Sagoe usually uses his own power to receive the society's money and goes to various village to do payment without proper documents and the knowledge of the association members."

"The association was asked to attend National Congress in Kumasi in September but the social welfare director denied to their attendance. The blind members of the society were ask to celebrate " white and cane" day at Tarkwa Nsusem on October, 2017.but Gideon Sagoe refused with his approval."

"By the orders of Mr Gideon Sagoe, the society's workshop at the social welfare has been broken down by Amenfiman Senior High School. The social welfare municipal director didn't help the association to obtain a plot of land for a workshop."

"Mr. Gideon Sagoe offers the social welfare rooms for rent. The association has informed the Wasa Amenfi Paramount Chief and with his convened meeting with the association executives, Mr. Sagoe has not turn from his attitudes".

The chairman of the association reveals that the attitude of Mr Gideon Sagoe and the suffering of the members of the association can't work with him thus, demanding his transfer from the municipal within two weeks or else they will advice themselves after their demonstration on Monday yields no result.

Wasa Amenfi East Physical disables are therefore calling on the president of Ghana Nana Akuffo Addo, Gender ministry, the Wasa Amenfi municipal Assembly and peoples in authorities to attend to their cry for an immediate transfer of the Social welfare director Mr. Gideon Sagoe.

According to them, Mr. Sagoe claims no individual can ask for his transfer from Wasa Amenfi since he is in close to high ranks in positions hence any attempt will end avail.

Speaking to the municipal police commander, Supt. Bright Boafo, he confirmed that prior notice has been given to the police by the physical disables concerning the peaceful demonstration on Monday and under his approval as a municipal police commander, the requisite measures will be taken before, during and after the demonstration.

He assured of high security at the scene for smoothly and interrupt demonstration as his men are capable and willing to assist.
