Akufo-Addo announces Techiman as capital of Bono East Region

President of the Republic, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has officially announced Techiman as the capital of the newly created Bono East Region.

He disclosed this today, Wednesday 13th February, 2019 at the Jubilee House, at a ceremony to present Constitutional Instruments to give effect to the creation of the six new regions.

“I am happy to inform you that Techiman has been chosen as the capital.”

"Today is a happy day for the people of the newly created Bono East Region, and I am happy that years of agitation for the creation of this region, which yielded no results have come to an end and hopefully, that a new era of progress and prosperity has dawned for the people of the region", the President said.

The President further revealed that his government has already allocated amount of GHs 20 million as seed money to help in the establishment of the needed infrastructure for the smooth take off of the region.

Meanwhile, Mr Evans Opoku-Bobie, Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, has been directed to be the caretaker Minister of the region until a substantive minister is appointed.
