Rebecca Akufo Addo Foundation donates to Bechem Government Hospital
Bechem Government Hospital has taken delivery of 40 medical and surgical items from the Rebecca Akufo Addo Foundation.

The Member of Parliament for Tano South Constituency, Mr Benjamin Yeboah Sekyere and the Municipal Chief Executive, Collins Offinam Takyi of the Brong Ahafo Region lobbied for the items to help improve health delivery at the facility.

Among the items include 20 anaesthesia, general surgical equipment, 20 cardinal health hydrocolloid dressing, 40 diapers, 20 sterile surgical tubing, 275 tegoderm, 4 hospital beds, endoscopy equipment, wheel chair, and a host of other equipment.

The Foundation is focused on reducing maternal mortality, improving the health of children as well as providing avenues to increase the economic contribution of women.



Speaking at a short ceremony, the MCE, Mr Offinam Takyi said, each of us needs proper health care in times of sickness hence the timely intervention of the benevolence from the First Lady comes as a major relief to ensure quality health delivery in the municipality.

He said he feels delighted that such an intervention has come to them and entreated authorities at the facility to take good care of the items.

He again used the occasion to outline the soon to be constructed Out Patients Department (OPD) which he and the MP lobbied for funds to enable the hospital get a facelift.

Furthermore, in line with making more health facilities available to residents for easy access, a completed community-based health planning and services (CHPS) compound at Ada which was constructed in three months is also awaiting commissioning.



The Medical Superintendent Dr. Adjei Darko in his speech stated that, the Bechem Government Hospital is an old facility which needs a lot of assistance. To this end, he called for more aid to support operations at the hospital for improvement services delivery.

According to him, the hospital has not recorded any maternal mortality this year and it is their hope that they can maintain that record for the rest of the year, adding they are really working at achieving that result.

Dr. Peter Asare, the Municipal Health Director appreciated the items and like Oliver Twist asked for more. He pleaded that it will be made an annual ritual so that it will be extended to other communities since their mandate is quality health for all with the slogan "Your Health Is Our Concern".



“No child has to die this year”, and promised to ensure quality healthcare for all. He urged the staff of the hospital to take care of the items and treat all equally.

The MP, Mr Sekyere on his part said within these short space of their assumption of office, the NPP Government has achieved so much. He acknowledged the First Lady for coming to their aid. He also announced that Derma Clinic will soon be upgraded to a polyclinic status; adding he believes in continuity and as such they are on course to achieve success.
