One area of concern has to do with inadequate furniture for students and teachers that will ensure pupils are comfortably seated in class.

In resolving this, the Offinso North District Assembly with support from the Member of Parliament for the area who is also the Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Augustine Collins Ntim has supported the district education directorate with the supply of 500 mono desks to some selected schools.

The desks worth GHC 80,000.00 were distributed mainly to schools in rural communities to enhance effective teaching and learning.
Among the beneficiary schools included; Afrancho D/A primary school, Afrancho Methodist Primary school, Akrofoa Primary School, Bobra Primary School, Nyinatasie Primary School, Sarfokrom Primary School, Tanokwaem Primary School, Tawiah/ Nfantekrom Primary School among others.

The District Chief Executive, Asare Boakye indicated that MP’s motivation on education since 2005 when he was the DCE till date as MP encouraged him to support the education directorate as most pupils sit on blocks and stones which is unhealthy.

He therefore assured PTA/ SMC to team up as the Assembly was ready to support self-help projects initiated by communities with cement and roofing sheets as it would go a long way to accelerate development rather than always solely depending on government for education support.

Again, he advised beneficiary schools to exhibit good maintenance culture in order to prolong the life span of the mono desks received and avoid the perception that it is a state property and no need for safe keeping.

Hon Asare cautioned parents and guardians keep close eyes on their wards against the use of hard drugs like wee, tramadol among others which usage poses great danger to them, and will impede their future prospects or career and rather focus on their books. Children should also avoid spending too much time on TV, video games, attending wake keeping, gambling among others.
