Ejisu-Juaben marks Independence Day with grand parade
A grand parade of school children, cadet corps and voluntary organizations was held at the Ejisu Secondary Technical school park to commemorate the 61st independence anniversary in the Municipality.

The contingent numbered 1,600 were selected from the various basic and senior high schools and cadets.

This year’s celebration held on the theme; “Putting Ghana Beyond Aid”, was also used to pray for the government and the nation’s peace, prosperity and growth.

The celebration was graced by traditional leaders, heads of department, school children and the general public.



There were cultural display by the Municipal cultural troop to the admiration of all to add more to the occasion.

In her address, the Ejisu-Juaben Municipal Chief Executive Madam Beatrice Serwa Derkyi noted the significance in-roads made over the past 61 years and invited all citizens to renew their faith in the leadership of the nation to steer the affairs of the country for prosperity for all.

She assured that government has laid an effective foundation in the view to government prioritizing economic stability, infrastructural development, enhanced social service delivery, emphasis on education, health, sanitation, good governance and private sector development.
Madam Derkyi urged all to use the occasion to commit themselves to national unity, be patriotic and collectively fight against all social vices.

The MCE said the “Ghana Beyond Aid”, agenda was doable and we must believe that what others, with less resources, have done, we can also do same.



She indicated that democracy could only be sustained to become the bedrock of national peace, unity and a key ingredient for rapid socio-economic development when all key stakeholders played their constitutional roles effectively.

The MCE, therefore, commended the security agencies, school children, teachers and the various groups and organizations for participating in the celebration.

At the end of the parade, pupils from Ejisu M/A model school came first in the basic school category, Ejisu Phoenix junior high school came first in the junior high category Ejisuman senior high school came first in the senior high school category while Ejisu secondary Technical school came first in the cadet category. Awards and certificates were presented to them.
