Tain DCE reiterates commitment to expand quality healthcare
The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Tain in the Brong Ahafo Region, Lawyer Charity Oforiwaa Dwommoh, has reiterated her commitment to expand quality healthcare to the doorsteps of the people.

According to her the Assembly’s fresh Medium Development Term (MDT) plan has been drawn in such way that, it will focus on the completion of two separate health centers at Yabraso and Badu whiles existing ones, she added, will also be equipped to meet modern standard requirements.

The DCE made this known whiles speaking in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com reporter, Emmanuel Frimpong about measures taken by the assembly to enhance accessibility to quality healthcare in the district.

Funds for the projects, she noted have been secured to help complete the two projects, adding that some foreign donors have also expressed their readiness to partner the Assembly in its quest to ensure that all Community Health Planning Service (CHPS) compounds in the district are provided with modern equipment to support the work of health professional that are posted to these facilities.

In a related developments, health workers in the area have been asked to be on high alert to deal with future outbreaks of pneumococcal meningitis infection that recently hit the ‘Brohani’ community and other parts of the district.

Pneumococcal meningitis is a serious infection that occurs when the Streptococcus pneumonia bacteria invade the bloodstream, cross the blood-brain barrier and multiply within the fluid surrounding the spine and brain.

Touching on other measures put in place to help control the disease, the soft-spoken DCE noted that the assembly has resolved to equip the Brohani CHPs compound to be able to provide emergency service to the people.

She added that: “I am also working tirelessly to put up an information center in the town to provide daily education about the disease to the people”.
