According to the deputy minister non-state actors like civil society organizations as well as the Ministry is collaborating with National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana (NALAG), Climate Change Associations and international community, to address the issue in Ghana.

He said the phenomenon of climate change must be of concern to every Ghanaian citizen and African to help promote sustainable development as it has affected every aspect of our life, - food security, health, bio diversity.

“I am happy the international community is taking this issue of carbon emission serious so that collectively we can find a solution, as an emission comes from the industrial world”.

He further pointed out in an interview that the international body has created a platform where African Mayors would come together, dialogue and share their experiences which would be presented at the United Nations (UN) to address climate change.

Again, the issue of funding can get down to the Mayors in Africa as the climate chance summit in Accra has appreciated the need to talk about the threat it poses to mankind and the need to integrate it into the district planning development and their composite budget.

In Ghana climate change has been grouped into our sustainable goals, it is no longer a social issue but a developmental project; actors at the local level when they talk about bush fires, galamsey, it is within the community and districts, he said.

In addition, as we bring together local authorities we would see the way forward to develop their capacity to tap into the global fund to assist in addressing climate change issues, he asserted.
