GAMA exceeds target of providing toilet for householders - Coordinator
Coordinator for the Greater Accra Metropolitan Area (GAMA) Sanitation and Water project, Ing. George Aseidu has revealed that before their contract ends with the World Bank May 2020, they have exceeded their target of providing toilet for households in the capital.

According to the GAMA Coordinator, nineteen thousand, seven hundred toilets had been provided to households in the capital that fall under lower income bracket to help end open deification.

Briefing the sector Minister Cecilia Abena Dapaah he noted that thirteen months ahead of the closing of the project it has been well managed to the extent that savings had been made.

“Our progress is thousand two hundred toilets for households a month, almost every household within the lower income bracket desire toilet in their homes, either to one of the problems confronting them was the ability to pay for the facility”.

He further added that beneficiaries are able to afford because government and the World Bank agreed to help reduce the cost, of producing the toilet facility.

It falls under government police since 2017 agenda one household, one toilet, “we have discussed with the Ministry that the project is yielding result and should not be stopped”.

The GAMA Coordinator revealed that since the project came into force, basic schools which did not have toilet have it now and those who had theirs broken due to lack of supply of water had been addressed.
