Techiman Assembly endorses MCE
The Assembly Members for Techiman Municipal Assembly in the Brong Ahafo Region has given nod to the President nominee for Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) position, Mr. John Kofi Donyina for Techiman Municipality with an overwhelming endorsement of 100 per cent.

There was celebration by the Assembly Members, public and party members who witness the ceremony when officials of the Electoral Commission (EC) declared that Mr. John Kofi Donyina polled all 46 votes, representing 100 per cent endorsement.

The Regional Minister Mr. Kwaku Asoma Cheremeh thanked the Assembly Members for voting massively to endorse Mr. John Kofi Donyina as MCE for improvement, development and progress of Techiman.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. John Donyina thanked the Assembly Members for the massive endorsement. He pledged to bring the needed development into the Municipality. He charged Civil Servant who will be working with him to be dedicated to their work and cautioned them to be of good behaviour. “I will never countenance lateness neither will I countenance inefficiency and laziness.  I am going to be on the warpath against corruption and the stealing of the collective assets of the people of Techiman.  Much as I will never be vindictive, I will not sit down for anyone to sabotage my efforts as I try to bring good things for the people of Techiman”, he noted.

The MCE noted that the Techiman market was the nerve centre of the West Africa Sub Region as well as Ghana in particular.  He pledges to focus his attention on the activities of the market which was the bread Basket of the Assembly. He said Revenue Officers who were assigned to work at the market should gird up their loins because time will soon come when they will be called to duty. To ensure effective delivery of his mandate the MCE said, he will liaised with Professor Akumfi Ameyaw his mentor and Chairman of Ghana Infrastructure Fund Board, the Regional Minister and other party executives who matter in Government to lobby a project for the Municipality.

He also said, he will seek advised and knowledge of the chiefs and past Municipal Chief Executive in his effort to build the municipality. “I will not tire, I will not relent, I will not rest, and I will not fail the good people of Techiman. That is a promise from the bottom of my heart”, he said.He also noted that his historic mission will be to tackle the sanitation of the municipality. “Together with my able Assembly Members and Sanitation Officers, we will instill discipline in the way we manage Filth in the municipality and allow the law to work”, he assured.

He pledged to take agriculture seriously since the people of Techiman were pre-dominantly farmers. He said he will ensure that, the programme dubbed “planting for foods and jobs” which was launched by the Minister for food and Agriculture was replicated in the Techiman Municipality.

On education, the MCE said, he was aware of challenges facing teachers and will work with the Municipal Education office to improve the standard of education and welfare of teachers.The Assembly Members had early on voted 100% for Mr. Ofosu Korsah as the Presiding Member of the Techiman Municipal Assembly.
