In his welcome address to the heads of departments the DCE said that his main objective is to continue from where his predecessor left in the development of the district and this come to pass with the support and cooperation of all the departments and agencies.

He urged all the heads to do their work diligently with the little resources available to them and cautioned against any head of department who play any partisan politics in the performance of his or her duties.

“You know you are civil servants who are the implementors of government policies and programmes hence you must be apolitical and carry out your duties as expected of you; if you do that then you are free but if you deviate from this then you do so to your own detriment”. The DCE said.

He promised to collaborate with all the heads of departments to bring good rapport that can bring the development to the people in the district.

During an open forum the major issue that was raised by almost all the heads of departments was lack of resources and logistics to carry out their duties. This ranged from broken down vehicles, fuel, office equipment due to lack of funds.

They called for support from the management of the District Assembly and pleaded for the release the little funds allocated to them in the district’s budget to enable them to carry out their duties well. They also called on the management to put in place to build semi-detached bungalows for the heads of department since it is highly expensive to rent a room in the town.

The heads of departments promised to collaborate with each other and the management of the assembly to achieve the development agenda of the district. The expressed their gratitude to Hon. Francis Ankomah for the interaction and urged him to sustain it.

Special appeal was made by the National Service District Coordinator to the Heads of Departments who need Service Personnel to bring their request earlier so that they can know the number of personnel to be posted to the district.

The District Coordinating Director Mr. William Meledi assured the heads of departments that the management will do it best to at least support them when the need arises. “The only challenge that thwart the support of the departments and agencies is the low revenue base in the district; however we will try to do the little that we can to support you when funds are available” Mr. Meledi said.

In his closing remarks the DCE thanked the Heads of Departments for attending the meeting in their numbers their contributions during the discussion and assured them that his doors are opened to all of them at any time.

I cannot perform the task ahead alone it will take the efforts, knowledge and dedication of all of us to achieve the set goals for the district but Hon. Ankomah said; he was quick to add that the attitude of some heads of departments coming work late and leaving earlier especially on Mondays and Fridays respectively should cease.

He assured them of his unflinching support for them in the performance of their duties.
