Announcing this at the Assembly’s first ordinary meeting, District Chief Executive (DCE) of the area, Ernest Victor Apau, said the gambling machines were being used by the owners openly without license from the requisite institutions and authorities.

He explained that a ban was placed on their activities due to the high patronage of children under 18 years, contrary to the laws of the country.

He informed the House that the exercise formed part of measures instituted by the assembly to bring sanity and raise the standard of gaming activities by clamping down these illegal gaming operators.

He said the move is also to help encourage pupils in the area to take their studies seriously and also prevent underage school children from patronizing these illegal gaming centers during school hours.

He called on Assembly Members to intensify the education of illegal gaming activities in their respective Electoral Areas to help complement efforts by the assembly.
