The initiative, code named District Learning Alliance Platform (DLLAP) was on the theme “learning for change towards improved performance in Asutifi North District” and is expected to drive a multi-stakeholder platform geared towards learning, innovation and scale-up within the Asutifi North District Ahonidie Mpontuo (ANAM) initiative.

Participants included Traditional Authority, Assembly staff, Ghana Education Service (GES), Ghana Health Service (GHS), Civil Society and the media.

The facilitator of the set-up processes, Mr. Abu Wumbei of IRC explained that the current state and pace of progress of WASH definitely calls for new ways of working together with Government in the lead geared towards doing things differently for impact; and bold to challenge existing mode of engagement.

He observed as a knowledge management workshop, the platform will serve as a vehicle for driving knowledge management and learning within the District; and will seek to link-up with the regional and national level learning platforms.

“The Asutifi North District Learning Alliance Platform (AN-DLLAP) is a WASH sector multi stakeholder platform with the overall goal of improving sector learning and dialogue. It is hosted by the ANDA with a Core Group”, he emphasized.

Mr. Wumbei therefore encouraged participants to use the platform as learning and sharing opportunity for sector players and ANAM partners to design practical approaches to improving sector engagements with the aim of achieving a knowledge driven District WASH sector masterplan that delivers quality and sustainable services.

The District Planning Officer, Ata-Era A. James for his part, pledged the assembly’s commitment towards the initiative and appealed to participants to use the knowledge gained to support the successful implementation of the programme.

He further called for support and partnership from the traditional authorities and donor agencies to help the assembly prosecute its development interventions.

The Asutifi North District has been selected by IRC Ghana and its partners with support from Conrad N. Hilton Foundation test a new, realistic and promising solution to enable the district build on United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6).

To this end, IRC, its partners and ANDA developed a Masterplan dubbed “Asutifi North District Ahonidie Mpontuo” (ANAM) which seeks to promote universal access to WASH services to about 84,423 people by 2030.
