DCE urges heads of department to sacrifice for their work

The Bongo District Assembly in the Upper East Region has successfully ended it Second Ordinary Meeting of the third session of the seventh Bongo District Assembly, with a call to all Assembly members and Heads of Departments to see their work as their sacred sacrifice Mother Ghana.

The two day meeting took stock of all achievements and challenges in the district recorded during the period under review.

The District Chief Executive, Peter Ayinbisa Ayamga in his sectional address touched on achievements and challenges in the area of Security, Education, Health, Agriculture, Water and Sanitation, all of which the Assembly sees as its priority areas.

On Health, he announced that, the district recorded zero maternal mortality case from January to August, 2018, adding that, the District Health Directorate is collaborating with the Korean International Corporation Agency (KOICA) to build the capacity of its staff and provide logistical support, to be able to maintain high health care standards.

This year, Out-Patient Department (OPD) attendance in the district has risen from last year’s January-August record of 39,843 clients to 49,043 clients from January-August 2018, which the District Chief Executive attributed largely to the continuous Public Education and awareness creation on the need for people to report to the nearest facility when they feel they are not well.

Mr. Ayinbisa commended the Health workers across the District for this and other achievements, especially when the working conditions there cannot be said to be the best, and pledged the Assembly’s commitment to support the Health Authorities in the discharge of their life-saving duties in the district.

Touching on projects he said the Assembly has recorded a number of completed projects, as well as many on-going ones. He mentioned the drilling and mechanisation of some Solar Powered boreholes and construction of a CHPS Compound at Sanabisi as some of completed projects.

There are some 10-seater W/C Toilet facilities, some classroom blocks and ancillary facilities among others including the community dams that are on-going.

The DCE also briefed the House on Water and Sanitation, announcing that, the Community Water and Sanitation Agency with funding from the World Bank, had engaged the services of a Consultant to conduct feasibility studies and design for 6-number Small Town Water Supply Systems in the fluoride belt of the district.

He assured the Assembly members that, funding for the construction of these projects are ready and sitting in an account, awaiting disbursements as soon as the feasibility studies are completed.
