Dr. Hader has more than 20 years of international experience in global health - from responding to HIV and infectious diseases to strengthening health systems.

She has served in key health leadership roles emphasizing accountability, scale and impact for sustainable responses.

Dr Hader was appointed Director of the Division of Global HIV and TB, US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in 2014, where she provided technical leadership, funding, evaluation and programme support to help achieve an AIDS-free generation world-wide.

Prior to her appointment to this new role, she served as Vice President and Director for the Centre for Health Systems and Solutions at the Futures Group (now Palladium).

Dr. Hader also held the position of Senior Deputy Director, HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, STD and TB Administration for the District of Columbia from 2007–2010 and served as Director of CDC–Zimbabwe from 2003–2006.

As a public health physician, Dr Hader’s career cut across research, programme, policy and politics.

She holds a degree in Biological Sciences from Stanford University and MD and MPH degrees from Columbia University.

Dr Hader is board certified in Internal Medicine, Paediatrics and Infectious Diseases.

In a related development, the UN Secretary-General also extended appreciation to Mr. Tim Martineau, who served as Acting Deputy Executive Director, Programme.
