According to him the election will bring greater change in the local governance levels since citizens would stand the chance to demand from their elected people to account for their stewardship.

He noted that the current practice where MMDCEs are appointed by the President do not exert greater responsibility in terms of accounting to the people at the District levels and therefore their election will take the burden off Members of Parliament who face several demands because they have been elected.

Dr Okoe Boye who expressed these sentiments during the 4th Crystal ball series organized by the Parliamentary News Africa (PNAfrica) to herald in the new meeting and session of Parliament also called for the establishment of benchmark to judge stewardship of Chief Executives.

The medical Officer bemoaned what he called the too much placement of values on material things by society irrespective of how such wealth are acquired

This, he said is contributing factor to the increasing levels of corruption.

The Ledzokuku lawmaker also expressed worry about indiscipline in society with its attendant lawlessness. He noted that laws work elsewhere; the reason they have made so much progress.
