HO M: Assembly elects new PM

The Ho Municipal Assembly in the Volta Region on Wednesday elected Eric Seyram Bene as its new Presiding Member (PM).

He garnered 32 votes to beat his closest contender, Mr Johnny Akpakeri, who managed only 11 votes in an election which was supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC).

Addressing members after the election, Mr. Bene thanked member for the confidence reposed in him and appealed to the house to give him the necessary support and cooperation to enable him deliver effectively.

He promised to run an open door policy and asked members to bury their political differences for the sake of development.

He assured that he would work to the best of his abilities to push the assembly’s development agenda further to enhance development in the area.

The Member of Parliament (MP) Mr Benjamin Kpodo in his statements congratulated the Assembly Members for displaying maturity before, during and after election. He appealed to them to work together in order to achieve a common goal.

On his part, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the area, Mr. Nelson Akorlie urged Members to offer the new PM the needed assistance as he stirs the affairs of the assembly in the next four year tenure.

He further called on them to eschew partisan politics during assembly deliberations in order to arrive on mutual agreements that will help accelerate development in the municipality.
