The visit offered him the opportunity to interact with the staff, know the challenging issues in the service, and find lasting solutions to those ailments.

According to him, the main challenge facing the service has to do with staff punctuality to work. He said workers in the name of COVID-19 pandemic have taken the law into their hands to be late which to him is a bad practice and does not show professionalism in the service.

“In fact lateness to work is indefensible, it hinders productivity so all should desist from it before it gets out of hand” he maintained.

Nana Ato Arthur emphasized that staff of the Local Government Service should adhere to the Code of Conduct of the service which will help and guide their movement in all aspects. “We expect every worker within the service to be neatly dressed and comport themselves in all spheres of lives,” he said.

Regarding the leakage of information to the third party, he lamented that such an act is tantamount to a criminal offense, and they are unpardonable, therefore those found culpable will be dealt with in due course.

“We expect all staff of the services to exhibit professionalism in the discharge of their work to promote Local Government Service and the country at large” he admonished.

Nana Ato Arthur indicated that one thing that can produce result and enhance work standard is respect to seniority and teamwork. This to him should be the hallmark of every staff under the Local Government Services.

With regard to staff participating fully in politics, the Head of Service cautioned that the Act bars all staff to go into active politics. “If anyone wants to engage in active politics, it will be of good for the person to resign from the service”, he alerted.

For his part, the Municipal Chief Executive, Isaac Appaw-Gyasi thanked the Head of Service for his visit and the Assembly for that matter the Staff, that his visit will go a long way to reshape the thinking ability of staff within the Municipality.

He further urged the staff to desist from any act that will jeopardize their work and demonstrate professionalism in order to develop the economy and making lives better for the people of New Juaben South.
