The Member of Parliament for Afram Plains North Betty Krosby Mensah who made this appeal to the President condemned the act of vigilantes in the Ghanaian politics saying it cripple the democracy Ghana is enjoying.

"I am very disappointed in the security agencies as well as the government for not bringing to book the culprit involved in the Ayawaso West Wuogon assault and shootings yet calling on political parties to disband vigilantes".

The Afram Plains North lawmaker was commenting in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com on President Akufo Addo’s call on political parties to meet to find lasting solution to the existence of vigilantes.

Betty Krosby Mensah challenged the President to bring those so-called National Security Personnel who brutalized civilians including a Member of Parliament to book to face the law accordingly to prove his sincere commitment to band party militia in this country

According to her, "the National Democratic Congress, which is a law abiding political party has with immediate effect condemned the act of shooting at the Ashanti Regional Office which resulted to in the death of a citizen during a meeting between the National and Regional Executives by the leadership of the party and has asked the security agencies to do a thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to book which the police is progressing with their investigations without any interference from the party.

"When has the NPP as a party allowed the police to investigate such act of violence without interfering?, it is never done in the history of their party; this vindicate the NDC of having respect for the rule of law" she fumed.

Betty Krosby Mensah again cautioned the government not to recruit members of the NPP militia into the National Security after the parties have dissolved them.
