NADOWLI: Government committed to welfare of PWDs -DCE
Persons with disability remain an integral part of society and government would not renege on securing their welfare.

This is according to the District Chief Executive for the Nadowli-Kaleo District, Madam Katherine T. Lankono when she addressed the First Ordinary General meeting of the Assembly.

She disclosed that with the support of the Disability Fund Management Committee in Collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development, the Assembly now has a comprehensive database of all persons with disability in the District.



She said the Assembly has received an amount of Eighty-Six Thousand, Six Hundred and Thirty-nine Ghana Cedis, Thirty-nine Peswas (GHS86,639.39) as 2018 fourth quarter share of the persons with disability Common Fund to support the socio-economic empowerment of the PWDs in the district.

Madam Lankono touching on the recent Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) drew the attention of Assembly members to some pregnancy cases recorded during the 2019 BECE Examination, and laminated that 8 girls could not sit for the examination because of pregnancies.

This, she noted could have been prevented, and called for collective efforts in preventing the menace in the district.
