I am often referred to as “Rape DCE” at social event - Assin South DCE
The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Assin South Derek Owusu Ambruce is lamenting over the dented image of his district assembly following the spate of recent rape cases in the district.

He was particularly worried about the defilement of the four year old girl at Assin Adadientem which resulted in the gushing out of the intestine of the victim.

Mr. Derek Owusu Ambruce made this remarks at a durbar organised by the Assembly at Assin Asamankese when the Committee on Gender and Children visited the district to touch on rising cases of rape in the area, as the committee wants to help create awareness on the issue and help curb the menace.

The durbar was attended by chiefs, parents and students from the various communities in the district.

The DCE bemoaned the rape case as it has become a challenge to the development of the district and appealed to parents and chiefs to help curb the menace.

Chairman on the committee of Gender and Children, Kwanhoma Dr. Kojo Appiah-Kubi appealed to the traditional authorities in the district to help the law enforcement agencies in the district to deal with perpetrators of rape and defilement in the area.

He also urged parents to give more attention to the upbringing of their children.

Whiles the Ranking Member on the Gender and Children committee and Member of Parliament for Jirapa Dr. Francis Dakora expressed concern about the well-being of women and children in the country and will leave no stone unturned to champion issues concerning their welfare.
