'Use websites to showcase gov’t projects' - Assemblies urged
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ghanadistricts.com (A resource base for all local assemblies in Ghana), Mr Alexander Akwasi Acquah, has underscored the need for Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies in Ghana to own administrative websites to help showcase the massive developmental projects and programmes of the government.

He said, by creating a functional website with easy navigation, officials of the assembly can better connect with their constituents and ensure that the public stays up to date at all times about various government programme and policies.

Mr Akwasi Acquah stated this when he met eight of the ten Regional Deans of the various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) across the country at the Mensvick Hotel in Accra, Tuesday.


In his short address, the CEO noted that, the internet and websites for that matter have lately proven to be the top platform for communicating and engaging citizens hence, the need for all local assemblies to take keen interest in owning websites that can help market their achievements to the world.

“Websites have recently become the most effective medium of providing citizens with adequate information through text, images and videos and can also boast of its wide reach” the CEO added.


He assured the group that, Ghanadisricts.com (an information hub of all local assemblies in Ghana) remains firm and resolute in its bid to partner local assemblies to realize the dream of connecting with their electorates and also bringing all local assembly under one umbrella.

On his part, General Manager (GM) of Ghanadistricts.com, Mr (Rev) Fred Anyasor-Nartey also revealed the organization’s intention to create and manage websites for all ten Regional Coordinating Councils (RCCs) to help improve decentralization in the country.


The first of its kind meeting brought together some top government officials including Head of Local Government Service (HLGS), Nana Ato Arthur, National Youth Authority Boss, Mr Emmanuel Asigri and Member of Parliament for Twifo Ati-Mokwa, Mr. Dwuma Odoom.
