He said, the Akufo-Addo led government intends to this through its flagship programmes such as ‘Planting for Food and Job’ (PFJ), One District- One - Cash Crop, One-District-One-Factory, One Village - One Dam programme of which the President envisages to help move Ghana beyond aid.

The DCE, who was speaking at the Assembly’s Meeting, said the district has taken steps to position itself in readiness for the smooth take-off of the One-District-One-Factory policy as espoused by the government, adding that, a proposal to that effect has been put forward for consideration and further action.

He revealed that, the proposal entails the construction of a processor facility to be attached to the already existing pack house at Vakpo and New Adomi, which when duly implemented, would help create at least 2,000 direct jobs and over 7,000 indirect ones through the out grower scheme.

In addition, the district, He said intends to venture into pineapple production under the government’s One District One-Cash Crop project.

He said the approach, the district plans to adopt would not be different from the One-District-One Factory model since it ties in with the pineapple out grower scheme that the district intends to employ to feed the processor facility the district intends to employ under the processor factory.

Mr. Kudjo urged the youth in the area to grab the opportunity by taking advantage of the programme rather than migrating to urban centers in search of non-existing jobs.
