News report had sought to suggest that the MCE was not in the good books of the chief of the area as well as other chiefs and a result, forcibly closed down a clinic because the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale North, Alhaji Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini was about going to make some donation to the said clinic.

Though the MCE has denied engaging in such an act, the Chief is peeved that the assemblyman who should know better, is going about peddling falsehood and using his [chief] name in engaging in his propaganda.

In a strongly worded caution, he asked Mohammed Inusa Wanzam to desist from making pronouncements that turned out to be untrue as well as masterminding falsified media reports.

The chief in clearing the air, stated that he is not involved in any conflict with the hardworking MCE for the Sagnarigu Municipality in respect of the closure of a CHIPS compound in the community due to a donation meant for the facility from Hon Suhuyini, the MP for the Tamale North Constituency.

Meanwhile, our checks with other sub-chiefs, residents and nurses of Gbrima revealed that Hon Mariam Iddrisu never gave any directive for the closure of Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound as reported.

She was rather said to have promised to liaise with the appropriate authorities within the area to have the facility properly furnished to improve on healthcare delivery within the Municipality.

According to some residents of the community, the Assembly member for the area has been a staunch NDC supporter who has always been a member of Hon Suhuyini’s campaign team and therefore were not surprised he embarked on such a rather negative campaign.

“In the run-up to the elections in 2016, he (the Assemblyman) together with Hon Suhuyini arranged for a makeshift CHIPS compound to be established in the community in anticipation of completion of the construction of a CHIPS compound which was started as far back as 2014 and abandoned them after the 2016 elections”, an opinion leader stated.
