Assembly keen on dealing with Fulani herdsmen - Asante Akim North DCE
The District Chief Executive of Asante Akim North District, Mr Francis Oti Boateng has said that serious efforts are still being put in place to protect the people of Agogo against brutal attacks from Fulani herdsmen in the area.

He said the assembly, with support from the police is still commitment and determined to flush out all herdsmen and their cattle from the Agogo stool lands in order to help protect lives and at the same time  encourage farming activities in the district.

The DCE stated this when speaking at colouful event at Agogo to officially handover an ultra modern police station to the Ghana Police Service to enhance  security in Agogo and its surrounding communities.


“We are more prepared in our efforts to combat criminal activities of the Fulani herdsmen in our villages and farms. We shall continue to provide more conducive Environment for our policemen to work effectively”, the DCE stated.

According to the DCE, the new police station which was started by late Kwadwo Baah Wiredu stalled after his death in 2008. He added that it took the intervention of the Assembly and current Member of Parliament of the area, Mr Appia-kubi to complete and furnished the project.


He lauded staff of Asante Akim North District, chiefs and Traditional Council of Agogo, MP, and all citizens of Asante Akim North for the support they gave to help complete the project.

He also ceased the opportunity to appeal to Interior Minister to help the Assembly put up more police post in some selected communities in the district.

On his part, the interior Minister, Mr. Ambrose Derry indicated that effective policing is a shared responsibility, adding that all citizens must support the police to deliver.

He urged police personal who would be posted to the new station to be professional and not engage in acts that has tendency to damage the reputation of police service.
