DCE inspects maintenance work on Yapei and Buipe bridges

The District Chief Executive for Central Gonja, Hon. Mustapha Mahama today inspected ongoing maintenance work on the Yapei and Buipe Bridges.

The bridges which are concurrently undergoing maintenance is expected to be completed before the yuletide haven outlived their expected lifespan of 50 years.

The DCE was conducted round the over 53 years old facility by the Regional Highways Director and the site engineers who promised to complete the work in the stipulated time. "We are working day and night to meet the deadline since the bridges are very important to the Nation." Mr. Brown, the site engineer assured.

Hon. Mustapha Mahama on his part thank the bridge maintenance unit of Ghana Highways Authority who are currently undertaking the maintenance work on the bridges for the work done so far and urge them to blend speed with quality in order save the bridges from collapse.

He said the economic importance of the bridges to Ghana cannot be underestimated and that their closure was having devastating effect on socio-economic well-being of residents, the Assembly and Ghanaians in general but it was necessary to help save lives and properties.

He maintain that his outfit will cooperate with the Ministry of Roads and Transport and the Ghana Highway Authority to see to the early completion of the project.

The DCE was accompanied by the District Work Engineer and host of staff from the Assembly.
