ASANTE A S: Assembly seeks development through self-help projects
The Asante Akim South District in the Ashanti Region is seeking for accelerated development through self-help project from chiefs and citizens in the district.

District Chief Executive (DCE), Alexander Frimpong noted that the district has 198 towns and villages and emphasized that the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) is not enough to cater for the needs of the communities for development.

The DCE therefore called on all the chiefs and people to help bring development to the District by starting a project in their communities and later seek help from the assembly to help complete the projects.

Mr. Frimpong indicated that the Assembly would be able to help with building materials such as roofing sheets, iron rods, cement among others.

In 2017, he noted, a number of communities benefited from such supports to complete their own projects, and added that communities that do well in initiating self-help projects would be duly rewarded.

He added that about 107 primary schools and 75 JHS under his jurisdiction and almost half of these schools need a reconstruction
