ASANTE A S: DCE, stakeholders explores means to improve education
It is obvious the Asante Akim South District Chief Executive Hon Alexandre Frimpong is not leaving anything to chance in the education sector.

He has put a lot of action into enhancing academic performance in the district with a number of consultations to identify and find solutions to challenges confronting the sector in the district.


 

The last past two weeks witnessed a number of stakeholder meetings by Mr. Alexandre Frimpong.



The DCE first met the management of Ghana Education Service (GES) in the district; then met all head-teachers from basic schools. There was also District Education Oversight Committee, where critical decisions on the following were taken.

1. Over/under-staffing in some basic schools.
2. Common end of year exams for all schools in the district.
3. Cancellation of some core subjects in some schools during the 2016 BECE.
4. The effective use of Capitation Grant by head-teachers; among others




The District Education Oversight Committee, also met the head-teachers and other stakeholders at Juaso and communicated their decisions to them.


The Assembly used the occasion to present 20 cartons (1000 boxes of chalks) to the 105 primary and 75 JHSs in the district.



The teachers were so happy and praised the assembly their commitment to education.
