Bono Minister hands over 1,191 motorbikes to Assemblies
A total of 1,191 motor bikes have been handed over to Municipal and Districts Assemblies through to Municipal and Districts Chief Executives by the Bono Regional Minister, Mrs. Evelyn Ama Kumi Richardson for distribution to Assembly members in the three regions of Bono, Bono East and Ahafo.

In a short ceremony to hand over the bikes to the Municipal and Districts Chief Executives, she said the policy was part of the Local Government measures for Assembly members to reach out to their electorates areas.

She noted that government aim is to source information from the assembly members to the Assemblies to deliberate on their challenges to be incorporated into the Medium Term Development Plans (MTDPs) of the Assemblies. ”The president bought into this idea to provide them with a means of transport”, She said. She added that president focus to bring development closer to the people due to this six regions have been created to achieve the purpose.

The Minister noted that the motor bikes will ensure efficient and effective service delivered of the Assembly Members. She said the motor bikes were received on 8th April, 2019 but the distribution delayed due the referendum and the creation of new regions.

She dispelled to the rumour that the motor bikes were ex-gratia for the Assembly Members and noted that rather they were for development purpose. She also noted she heard rumours of assembly members selling their motor bikes and appealed to them to desist from that if it is true. She call on the Assembly Members to use the bike for the purpose they intended for, to accelerate development in their area. She assured that drastic action will be taken against the Assembly Members who sell the motorbike.

The motor bike were supplied by the Able Import and Export Ltd and assembled by JORNINAS enterprise. The bikes which is the ‘Dihao’ type imported from China has 150 horse power.


FACILITIES

The motor bike has media features such as radio, MP3 and Bluetooth. With the media features the Assembly Members can listen to news as well as entertaining themselves with MP3 and the Bluetooth.

The Certified Engineer Mr. Yang Jizehi supervises the assembling of the motor bikes and ensures that both security and media features were working. On security features, he said the motor bikes uses remote control just like, and can or stop using the remote. The bikes also have alarms and when programmes, it can draw your attention when touched by anyone. The Assembly members were also given helmet for protection.

Mr. Ouattara Drissah, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Dormaa Central lauded the idea of given the motor bikes to the assembly member to enable them to reach out to-hard-to-each electoral areas. He called for good maintenance culture so that the motor bikes can last longer.
