KWABRE E: 1D1F to take off from next year

The “One District One Factory” (1D1F) policy of the New Patriotic Party government seems to be gaining grounds in many districts after it was launched and Kwabre East District also seems to be following suit.

The District Chief Executive, Nana Osei Assibey Bonsu has revealed that by the first quarter of next year, they will hit the grounds running revealing that the Assembly is in the process of developing a lot of strategies to maximize the policy.

Interacting with the chief of Asonomanso in the district as part of his familiarization tour, Hon. Assibey Bonsu revealed that the assembly is in a process of generating a land bank purposely for the (1D1F) project.

He said the land bank would be completed by December this year, to make room for the 1D1F project to take off early next year. He added that the Assembly is in the process of collating pieces of lands given to it by chiefs in the district.

He revealed that surveyors from the assembly will draw a map of the district and give a vivid description of the lands with their drawings, allocation and site plans to the (1D1F) Secretariat in Accra to enable investors have easy access to their projects in the district without struggling for arable lands when they are prepared to take off.

Already, many investors have contacted him on what they could do in the district and all left to be done is arable land for the project.

He added that those lands would not be bought but rather a token would be given to the chiefs and an agreement would be reached to ensure that majority of the workers are employed from the said town and also a token is also given to the traditional authority in the town for developmental projects annually.

Hon. Assibey Bonsu was optimistic that with this initiative more than one factory could be created in the district depending on the acres of land that would be aerued in the various towns.

He therefore, appealed to the chiefs in the district to make lands available for the project in their own interest and that of the teeming youths in their towns who are unemployed.

In a quick response to his request, the chief of Asonomanso, Nana Baffour Assuming Gyekye I, donated 10 acres of land for the project and promised to give more if the need be.

Nana Gyekye corroborated that the project if materialized could reduce the high rate of unemployment in the district and also called on other chiefs to emulate his gesture.

He also thanked the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the visit and assured him of his full support in developing the district to the status it deserves.
