New Juaben South confirms Isaac Appaw-Gyasi as MCE
It was all joy and ecstasy on the premises of the New Juaben South Municipal Assembly when Forty-eight (48) of the Assembly Members present overwhelmingly confirmed the President Nominee; Isaac Appaw-Gyasi as the new municipal chief executive.

With a total of 51 of the general assembly, including the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) and Member of Parliament (MP) for the New Juaben South Constituency, the confirmation was very peaceful with the presents of the Queen Mother of the New Juaben Traditional Council, the Clergy, the Eastern Regional Minister and His Deputy, the Regional Executives of the NPP, Hon. DCE for Ayensuano, other party faithful’s and a High Court Judge, Justice Richard Mac Kogyapwaah.

In his earlier address, the Eastern Regional Minister; Hon. Eric Kwakye Darfour encouraged the assembly members to continue to offer their unflinching support to the government and the people of New Juaben South Municipality. He said the NPP government promised Ghanaians in its manifesto to bring development to the door steps of the people of Ghana.

“Good governance is what the NPP government stands for and the government will be mean to discriminate against any citizenry for the share of the national cake”, he maintained.



He explained that the government has created Thirty-eight (38) new Districts to be added to the already existed Two Hundred and sixteen (216) Metropolitan, Municipal and Districts Assembly (MMDAS) making Two Hundred and fifty-four (254) MMDAS. This is to ensure fair distribution of national resources.

Hon. Kwakye Darfour explained that it is enshrined in the Local Government Act that a nominee by the President should at least get one-third vote of the total Assembly Members present before he or she can be confirmed.

The Regional Minister further asked the Assembly members to endorse the President’s nominee to continue the developmental projects embarked by the government and the Assembly as well.

He appealed to the members present to do away with any discrepancies that seems to jeopardise the democratic process of the country.



Later in his acceptance speech, the newly elected New Juaben South Municipal Chief Executive, Isaac Appaw-Gyasi commended the Assembly members for their cooperation and the need to give him the nod to lead the Municipality. He assured the general public about his commitment to deliver his duties diligently to meet the desire and aspiration that the President repose in him.

“I will at all times honour, uphold and implement the agenda of the Municipality and the government of His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo so as to ensure that developments reach the ordinary citizen”. He promised.

Given a brief background profile, newly confirmed MCE, born in Koforidua in the New Juaben South Constituency is an astute politician and a businessman in both domestic and global.

Mr. Appaw-Gyasi, a card bearing member of the ruling party has rose through the ranks until his current position, this according to him has prepared him for the various positions. He is married with five children.
