According to the lawmaker election of MMDCEs would help end the unnecessary and unhealthy rivalry that exist between the two political figures at the assemblies, as most of the MMDCEs work hard to unseat MPs.

He further added that it would give the MMDCEs security of tenure in office of office they would be accountable to the people who voted them to office and would end presidents superimposing “them” on the people.

It is something we need to do, the president is elected same with MPs to complete the cycle, we need to elect the MMDCEs, the only discontent is the procedure article 243 (1) and 55 (3) should take, he stated.

“Our colleagues in the Minority we are working together they would buy into it we do not have serious contention with election of MMDCEs”.

He also appealed to the media to help promote the whole issue on the referendum very seriously, it is not about election of MMDCEs per say, but rather whether political parties should participate.
